This book was a gift from someone very special to me.
I have only known her for a few months, but she has known me for a lifetime. I am blessed to have met her at such a young age, (She thinks not young enough) but hey better late than never!
I hope that I am able to utilize all her knowledge and experience, and direct it into something beautiful. That will come in time, and if I am focused and driven enough, sooner than later you’ll see my dreams just as clearly as I see them. Thank you for everything you have done for me, and how much you have taught me about me. Sending you love always <3
“But you, Jon,” he said, “learned so much at one time that you didn’t have to go through a thousand lives to reach this one.” -pg 44
I think it’s important to reflect on everything in our lives. Everything happens for a reason, it is there to teach us something. However it is our responsibility to pay attention, and listen the first time in order to continue to move forward
“You will begin to touch leaven, Jonathan, in the moment that you touch perfect speed. And that isn’t flying a thousand miles an hour, or a million, or flying at the speed of light. Because any number is a limit, and perfection doesn’t have limits. Perfect seed, my son, is being there.” - pg. 45
The purpose of life is to live in the now.
All we have is here and now, this is something I have been trying to remind myself daily. We literally don’t even have 5 seconds ago. I am such a planner that I am continuously thinking about the future, which is great, but I am not living in the future, I really only have here and now, it is important to bring yourself into the present moment and try to enjoy everything that you are feeling, whether perceived positive or negative.
“It’s strange. The gulls who scorn perfection for the sake of travel go nowhere, slowly. Those who put aside travel for the sake of perfection go anywhere, instantly. Remember, Jonathan, heaven isn’t a place or a time, because place and time are so very meaningless.” -pg. 56
This especially has been an interesting concept for me considering I just moved to Australia. Reminding myself that my family and friends and everyone I know are continuing their lives just across the planet. I don’t even really know, it is just a strange concept. It’s like my life at home is just on pause (but it’s not) and I have literally created a WHOLE new life in Australia. It just makes me realize that I decide what my here and now is, it can be heaven, because heaven is nor a time or place, but what you decide. Create your life, it really is in your own hands, you might have to word tirelessly towards it, but you do have the power of choice.
“To fly as fast as thought, to anywhere that is,” he said, “you must begin by knowing that you have already arrived.'“ -pg.56
This is how it works in business too, you have to decide you made the sale before you go into sell. This is why I encourage the use of “I AM…” because what you say after those 2 words decides your life.
“Everywhere at once across space and time.” -pg 57
Being away from home, thinking about friends, family, loved ones; I have come to realize that I fear loss. I am sure as most people, I guess because my loved ones are literally my world. But this quote made me realize that I am not necessarily gone, or away from them, but I can be “everywhere at once across space and time.” I send love and positive energy in my mind, but since energy is energy, I believe it can reach the ones I am sending it to without physical touch, or words to express it. Thoughts really are enough.
“You have less fear of learning.” -pg. 58
Simply reminded me of myself, I crave to learn and grow, and I am willing to take risks in order to learn, even if those risks can hurt me.
“The gull sees farthest who flies highest.” -pg. 60
It might be harder to flap those wings to get to the top, but it IS worth it.
“If our friendship depends on things like space and time, then when we finally overcome space and time, we’ve destroyed our own brotherhood! But overcome space, and all we have left is Here. Overcome time, and all we have left is Now. And in the middle of Here and Now, don’t you think we might see each other once or twice?” -pg. 61
Again this was perfect for me at this moment in time being away from everything that I know, fearing that I will lose connections with those important to me. Realizing that distance really isn’t a thing, like ok yes it is. But it doesn’t have to be. At least it shouldn’t be.
“Forgive them, and help them to understand.” -pg.62
Must say did have a lot of backlash when I first started to post a lot on social media about all things health, fitness, positivity, etc. Why? I am not 100% sure. Maybe because it was different, but it’s all genuine. It’s all who I am and how I think, I just decided to start sharing it one day. And yeah I got to see the real side of a lot of who I thought were my friends. Now I have come to realize it’s only natural. The ones who love you most doubt you the most. So when I read this sentence it made me think to not give up on their friendships, but simply to help them understand my thought process, and if not understand, to just accept me as me, and agree to disagree.
“Well, this kind of flying has always been here to be learned by anybody who wanted to discover it; that’s got nothing to do with time. We’re ahead of the fashion, maybe. Ahead of the way that most gulls fly.” -pg. 82
You have to want to grow
To be honest I don’t think there are any new concepts or inventions, I believe it has been there the whole time for us to discover, it just a matter of who wants to put the effort into figuring it out.
“Remember what we were saying about one’s body being nothing more tha nthought itself..?” -pg. 88
I really enjoyed this line because I am all for the power of thought. Which it is so true, our thoughts make up our life, so why can’t it make up our bodies as well? Not 100% how this works yet, but its great food for thought. Starting thinking about your body in a loving, empowering way.
“Like the wind of an ocean storm.” -pg. 88 “How do adventures suddenly appear in one’s mind? Writers who love their work say that the mystery is a part of the magic. No explanation” -pg. 125
Thought this seemed important, not 100% clear on it yet though
“Imagination is an old soul.” -pg. 125 “Stories are wrought not with committees and grammar, they spring from a mystery that touches our own silent imagination.” -pg. 125
I would love to share this novel with you guys. If anyone would like to borrow it please don’t hesitate to ask! It is short and sweet, and oh so eye opening. Just a happy little story :) xo
